VizComm Introduces Touchfree Interaction with VIZ - The Next Revolution!

The keyboard and mouse have been the staple input devices for computers since the early 1960s. The introduction of touchscreens since the iphone® in 2007 has revolutionized mobile devices. We now introduce touchfree interaction - the next revolution.

All laptops, tablets, and smartphones come equipped with a video camera. While mobile devices, especially smartphones, have limited physical space on which to display buttons for input, the camera itself provides a convenient way to interact with the device. In our approach, we use hand gestures as viewed by the camera (and interpreted by software algorithms) as an input device. No other hardware is needed.

To see how natural this is, a swipe of the hand (right) - in the air - can advance a slide deck presentation ( Viz-Presenter ), or pictures in a mobile photo gallery ( Viz-Slider ). Swipe the other way (left), and the slides revert back. And this works on a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. We call our visual input technology VIZ.

In other applications of VIZ, scroll menu items effortlessly with hand motions, and "press" - in the air - to indicate selection. One can even use one's hand to search maps, fly a flight simulator, or navigate with Google Earth. Hand gestures can be used to interact with games, or even become a game, such as the finger counting game Let's Count.

While there are many devices, operating systems, and CPUs, that is not the user's concern. Just learn one simple way to navigate your digital world, and you can expect it to work everywhere. Once users see that VIZ is both easy and convenient, this technology will just become part of the way we interact with devices. We don't think about our mice and keyboards any more, or even touchscreens. This is the next step.

So when you are cooking or eating, sticky fingers are no problem. Hospital workers can now navigate patient records without touching any surfaces, avoiding germs. Video games become even more realistic. And when you are giving that presentation, a simple wave of your hand to advance the slides will give you that extra wow factor that can impress.
